Private Label & OEM from China: Build Your Own Brand

Updated May 22, 2026

The fastest way to stop competing on price is to stop selling the same generic product as everyone else. Branding — even light branding — is how you do it.

The levels of branding

  • Custom packaging & inserts — branded boxes, mailers, thank-you cards. Lowest effort, big perceived-value lift.
  • Private label — your logo/label on an existing product. Often available at low or no extra MOQ.
  • OEM — a factory makes a product to your specification.
  • ODM — you adapt the factory’s existing design and brand it.

Most sellers start with packaging + private label, then move to OEM/ODM as they scale.

OEM vs ODM — which?

  • ODM is faster and cheaper: tweak an existing product, add your brand. Good for getting to market quickly.
  • OEM gives full control and differentiation, with higher MOQs and longer lead times. Best once a product is proven.

Branded dropshipping

You don’t need to hold stock to brand. With on-demand fulfillment, each order can be packed with your packaging and inserts before it ships — so even test orders build your brand. (See dropshipping fulfillment.)

Getting it made

Branding depends on a supplier who can actually deliver it consistently — which comes back to vetting suppliers and quality control.

MorePlus offers custom packaging, labels, logos and full OEM/ODM development — see OEM & branding, or get a free quote to brand your product.
